Digger Ride On | Excavator Ride-Along
Excavator ride along, or ride on, as they are often called, are probably the most fun of all construction toys. Kids love to watch big machines move dirt, rocks, or truckloads of sand. Just think how much fun it is for a child to be sitting on an excavator and actually digging in the sand!
They are typically designed to be very stable, to allow kids to be kids, without tipping over. Still, look for ones with rounded corners, so when the inevitable spill occurs, kids will not have to deal with sharp edges.
Plenty of manufacturers make excavator ride along toys. Kettler, a great German company, or US based Fisher Price - there is plenty to choose from. Many an excavator ride on is made from metal, some from hard, really tough plastic. Almost all have a working backhoe - after all, that's what a toy excavator is all about.
While the ride on excavators are really meant for the sandbox, they can also make fun toy for use inside the house. They can pick up wooden blocks, or other toys, and deposit them in a container. You might even make a game out of cleaning up other toys that typically seem to wonder around the house. Both boys and girls enjoy playing on a ride along excavator.
